I took 360 last year, so this chapter was a great refresher. I have seen understanding of MVC listed as a requirement for many jobs. From my understanding the HTML is the View and the PHP is the Controller. These languages work together to achieve a MVC relationship. I am going to try this concept on my CSCI 215 project and future website I work on. The author starts to talk about the use of HTML intertwined PHP scripts. In this pattern, a user interface is separated into three separate parts: a model (the application's logic), the view (the interface's presentation), and finally the controller (input/output and navigation). I have heard alot on this topic from CSCI 360. The book then switched it's focus to MVC pattern. Security - an individual user should only be allowed to change what they are authorized to change. Navigability - navigation within a page and among different pages should be simple, explicit, and intuitive. Simplicity - no one page should have too much information or too little. It used the web to show how user interfaces can be differentiated between good and bad.

In the last exercise, I refractored the Person class by deleting anything that I could not find (using ctrl+f) anywhere else in the code base. The second exercise required us to add parameters to the Person class. We had to create a function for each variable get that value or set it to another value.

I was supposed to do the Women in Computing website using Wordpress, but I could not get the theme I chose to change to the colors I wanted. If I knew this I would have asked how to change Wordpress themes. I did not know that I was supposed to send in questions beforehand (no one sent in questions at this particular group). The main thing I learned was the differences between and. The meeting was not that informative for beginner's. However, I can admit that these sites are very sleek looking so I am trying to warm up to the idea of using the popular application. As someone who always created websites from scratch I a ways disliked the idea of Wordpress. Last Thursday Tyrieke, Cameron, and I went to a Wordpress metting in Mt. I did this by changing one of the existing databases (dbSchedules) and then just fixing the fields that did not have in common. The third and last excercise asked us to design and implement a Calendar Month View. I just echoed the results of each after it was ran to see the results. It was rather difficult to come up with a test for this. The second question in chapter 7's exercises asked us to test functions in the dbShifts module. They should probably change this to multiple fields (Person1, Person2, Person3, etc.). The databases contained more than one person under the Persons field. The first question asked us to find databases that violated the fifth and sixth criteria of the normalization of databases (which is that databases should contain entries of the appropriate type and the database's attributes must not contain subset of the primary key). The exercises at the end of this chapter optimized databases within the RMH homebase. I never had to take Databases so I paid close attention to this chapter.
